RoHS: Restriction of Hazardous Substances

What is RoHS?
RoHS is an EU directive restricting the use of six hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment to protect human health and the environment. Effective since July 1, 2006, it aims to reduce toxic waste, such as lead, which can damage the kidneys, brain, and nervous system. Countries like Japan, Korea, China, and the U.S. have implemented similar regulations.

Why is RoHS Needed?
Electronic waste in landfills releases hazardous substances into the environment, contaminating food and water supplies. For example, mercury in fish can cause brain and kidney damage. RoHS ensures safer disposal and manufacturing practices.

Benefits of RoHS

  • Protects health and ecosystems, especially in developing countries where electronic waste is dumped.

  • Encourages sustainable electronics; most modern devices, including Apple iPods and Panasonic TVs, are RoHS-compliant.

  • Promotes plastic recycling by limiting harmful brominated flame retardants (BFR).

Bhadora Industries and RoHS Compliance

Bhadora Industries Limited is committed to producing environmentally friendly products that adhere to the highest safety and quality standards. As part of this commitment, all our products are fully compliant with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive. This reflects our dedication to sustainability, the health and well-being of our customers, and environmental preservation.

The RoHS directive restricts the use of six hazardous substances commonly found in electrical and electronic equipment:

  • Lead (Pb): Harmful to the nervous system, kidneys, and reproductive health.

  • Mercury (Hg): Can cause severe damage to the brain and kidneys.

  • Cadmium (Cd): Known to be highly toxic to humans and the environment.

  • Hexavalent Chromium (Cr6+): A carcinogen that poses significant health and environmental risks.

  • Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB): Toxic flame retardants harmful to health and ecosystems.

  • Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE): Persistent chemicals that can disrupt human hormones and impact wildlife.

At Bhadora Industries, we have adopted advanced manufacturing processes to eliminate these substances, ensuring our products are safe, sustainable, and aligned with global regulations. This proactive approach extends to all stages of production, from sourcing raw materials to final product testing.

By achieving RoHS compliance, Bhadora Industries reinforces its leadership in responsible manufacturing, delivering innovative products that meet the needs of customers while safeguarding the planet.
